Sixers Win 2 of 3 This Week, Climbing to 17-27 on the Season

Image
Corey Chmara This past week, the Sixers played three games: Tuesday at Denver, Friday against Cleveland, and Sunday at Chicago, winning both games against Cleveland and Chicago. On Tuesday, Philly faced the Denver Nuggets, who entered the game with a 26-16 record. The Sixers were without Joel Embiid, Kyle Lowry, Caleb Martin, KJ Martin, and Jared McCain, and they never really stood a chance. The Nuggets came out fast, and the Sixers couldn’t keep up. Tyrese Maxey had a solid performance, scoring 28 points and recording 10 assists. Guerschon Yabusele also played well, putting up 22 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Paul George, whose performance has been inconsistent, contributed just 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting, though he did add 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Jesse D. The Cavs came into the game as the top team in the East (by record), but they were without their young star, Evan M...

Sixers Seem to Be Waving the White Flag on This Season

Image
Corey Chmara After their loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last night, the Philadelphia 76ers have fallen to 15-26 on the season and appear to have somewhat "waved the white flag" on the year. With Joel Embiid out for most, if not all, of this week, the Sixers face a challenging schedule ahead. In addition to Embiid, the team has also been playing without Paul George, who has missed the last two games due to a groin injury. This past week, the Sixers went 0-4 and are currently riding a six-game losing streak. Joel Embiid missed all of the games this week, including matchups against Oklahoma City, New York, Indiana, and Milwaukee — all of which are above the .500 mark. The Sixers opened play last Tuesday at home against Oklahoma City, which currently has the best record in the NBA. None of Maxey, Embiid, or George played in this game, which turned out to be another lost cause. The Sixers lost 118-102 and were never truly in the game. However, Justin Edwards had the best performance ...

It's Officially Time to Panic: Sixers Set to Face 14 of 15 Games Against Teams with Winning Records

Image
Corey Chmara The Sixers spent the entirety of last week without Joel Embiid, who is currently dealing with a foot sprain. In their four games, they went 1-3, managing to beat the Washington Wizards 109-103. The Wizards own the NBA's worst record at 6-31. The week kicked off with a home game against the Phoenix Suns. As expected, Embiid did not play. The Sixers got off to a fast start, leading 23-16 after the first quarter. But, as it often happens, the opposing team slowly chipped away at the Sixers' lead and eventually pulled away. Tyrese Maxey scored 31 points and had 10 assists in the game, while Kelly Oubre Jr. added 26 points and 11 rebounds. However, Paul George had a rough game, scoring just 13 points on 5-of-18 shooting in 37 minutes. That’s simply not going to cut it. Of course, George isn’t expected to score 25 points every night, but without Embiid, the Sixers need more than 13 points on 27% shooting from him. The Sixers lost this one 109-99. Sixers Conclude Six-Game Road Trip with 4-2 Record, Building Momentum and Improving Play

The 76ers finish December with a 9-3 record as they look to stay hot in January Corey Chmara This past week, the 76ers played four games, finishing with a 2-2 record. On Monday, the Sixers faced the Blazers in Portland and secured a 125-103 victory. Joel Embiid led the way with 37 points and 9 rebounds, while Tyrese Maxey added 23 points on 54% shooting from the field. There wasn’t much to analyze in this game, as Portland was missing Jerami Grant, and the Sixers controlled the contest from start to finish. Guerschon Yabusele had an impressive outing, contributing 16 points off the bench. After the win in Portland, the Sixers traveled to Sacramento for the first leg of a back-to-back series on Wednesday, with Joel Embiid sitting out. This turned out to be one of the most frustrating losses of the season. The Sixers built a 14-point lead in the first half, but as the period wound down, they became careless with the basketball. With just 3:30 left in the game, the Sixers held a 107-98 le...
