The Sixers Pick Up Their 3rd Win This Season, Currently Sitting at a Record of 3-13

Image
Corey Chmara The Sixers picked up a win on Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets, which was the only legitimate positive from the week. The Sixers played four games this past week and finished with a record of 1-3. Last Monday, Philly faced Miami, where they got off to a strong start. They led by 19 points at one point in the second quarter, but that lead quickly shrank to just three by halftime. The Heat eventually pulled away and won 106-89. Following the game, the Sixers had a team meeting in which Tyrese Maxey told Joel Embiid he needs to stop being late "for everything" and how it impacts the entire organization, including the locker room, teammates, and coaching staff. This became a huge headline on Monday and Tuesday of last week, but it's being heavily blown out of proportion. Many players and coaches have similar conversations throughout the season, but it only becomes a big, problematic story when it involves the Sixers. Sam Navarro-Imagn Images Instead of just...

Things Are Quickly Getting Very Ugly With the Sixers, As They Currently Sit at 2-10 on The Year

Image
Corey Chmara The Philadelphia 76ers currently sit at 2-10 overall and are 12th in the Eastern Conference. They are 1-8 over their last 9 games, and things just continue to get worse and worse, even though it should be the opposite with Joel Embiid starting to play (sometimes). This past week, the Sixers went 0-3 straight up in their three games, all against playoff teams in the East. They faced the New York Knicks last Tuesday for Joel Embiid's return; however, he looked very, very bad. Embiid finished that game with just 13 points on 2-11 shooting in 26 minutes. That was expected, though, considering it was his first game of the season. Following the loss to the Knicks (111-99), the Sixers played the Cavs the next day, who are still undefeated this season with a 15-0 record. Both Embiid and Paul George didn't play for Philly, and it was essentially a "throwaway" game. They lost 114-106. Jesse D. Garrabrant- Getty Images While both of these games were expected to be g...

The Shorthanded 76ers Are Now 2-7 On The Season, With Joel Embiid Expected to Debut On Tuesday vs New York

Image
Corey Chmara This season has gone terribly wrong for the 76ers so far, as they currently sit at 2-7, 13th in the Eastern Conference standings. Paul George made his Sixers debut last Monday in Phoenix, putting up a stat line of 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists in 31 minutes. The Sixers were in control most of the game, but ultimately came up short, as Kevin Durant took over late, giving the Suns the advantage, 118-116. On Wednesday, the Sixers played the Clippers, as Paul George made his return to Los Angeles. This was another game where the Sixers looked solid early but their offense eventually stalled completely. Norman Powell couldn't miss, and the Sixers couldn't make a shot. The biggest headline from this game was that Tyrese Maxey suffered a hamstring injury, which will keep him out for roughly a couple of weeks. The injury didn't look awful, but Maxey had a hard time walking to the locker room after suffering the injury. The Sixers ended up falling short 110-98. ...

The Sixers Fall to 1-4 On The Young Season, and a Look Forward Into Paul George's 76ers Debut

Image
The Sixers Will Be Getting Much Needed Help This Week, With Paul George Expected to Make His 76ers Debut on Monday in Phoenix Corey Chmara The 76ers lost both games this past week, dropping to a poor 1-4 record on the season. Both losses this past week came at the Wells Fargo Center, where the Sixers are currently 0-3 so far this season. On Wednesday they took on the Detroit Pistons, a team they should have taken care of. Detroit essentially controlled most of the game, winning 105-95; however, the score doesn't really reflect how poorly the Sixers played. The Sixers shot just 28.6% from three, going 8/26 from beyond the arc, meanwhile Detroit shot over 41% from three. Jaden Ivey, Cade Cunningham, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Tobias Harris (dreaded) all had solid games and were just too much for the 76ers to keep up with.  At this point in the season, the Sixers are currently ranked 29th out of the 30 teams in the NBA in three point percentage at 31.3%. Three point shooting was a strong e...
